Theft protection: GPS or sim device

Hi,

Are there any GPS devices out there that you can attach to your bike track it in the event it gets nicked?

It would be hard to conceal I guess but wouldn't it be a good idea for bike manufacturers to conceal such things in the frame.

Also how about placing a snooping device onto the bike somewhere, calling it and listening into the conversations with whoever has nicked it?

Probably not very practical or legal for that matter but anything helps.

Shame about the standby time on that device 36 hours.

If you live in a city though, this may be one way to track down your bike.

There are many small and discreet surveillance and tracking devices one could fit. It all depends on what your budget is. I like the idea of a thin transparent cord tied to a spoke with the other end of the cord attached to a rape alarm discreetly hidden nearby so when the bike is moved the alarm goes off and they are LOUD. One could also set up all sorts of mechanisms to deter thieves from getting away with your pride and joy ...... some probably not legal but hey who cares as long as it means you keep your bike and the thieves don't trouble you again.

I am sure some of the trackers and mini cams you could link to a webpage, your pc, laptop or phone.
