hmmmm............is it mandatory to turn up with tyres that rub against the forks, or can one just get to the start line late?

more seriously - does 'BC Guidelines' mean compulsory helmets?

Nope: "While it is not mandatory, we strongly suggest all participants wear a safety-approved cycling helmet. We recommend cycle helmets complying with ANSI Z90/4 or SNELL standards".

I did it last year.... and am trying to get permission from the boss to do this years

Last year it was incredibly wet; at some points it was raining so hard wwe had to stop as we couldnt see the road for the torrents of water coming down.... this somwhat limited the numbers who took part, but it was still an enjoyable ride - despite the conditions.

It's a nice route, rolling rather than hilly; no stupidly steep or long climbs, but not flat and boring either. The roads were mainly quiet (with a few short sections on A roads), and it was pretty well run, with decent food stops and the usually decent kilo to go organisation (except for this years Cheshire Cat, they're normally fairly good). As I posted on a related thread it would make an ideal first century ride - tough enough to be a challenge, but not too eye wateringly painful.

Ahh. I am just trying to plan rides for Sep. This looks a good one as I enjoyed the Tour of the Peak!
