Bimbling along ...
I'm enjoying cycling much more now the weather is warmer, and I am going a little further on rides too because it is more enjoyable.

Does it make it easier to cycle in winter when you've done it all through summer?

Yes winter will be easier for the legs if you've miles in from the summer.

But summer miles won't prepare you for the numb fingers, frozen toes and constant runny nose.

I much prefer the winter for commuting.

I adjust layers and still arrive fresh and mostly sweat-free and card give me space in the dark.

Summertime means closer passes and, ironically, more clothes as I have to change when I get anywhere.

I haven't cycle-commuted in weeks, I've been pretty much 100% on the motor bike since the end of March.

It is nice to wear less and look even cooler :becool: - a lot less faffing about getting ready. However, dressing for winter is easier. You know you're going to need everything on both legs of the commute.

The first year I commuted, I started in the warm thinking I'd stop when it got too cold. It hasn't yet, several years later.

I always found that as long as my hands and neck were covered i was fine in winter, i always wear shorts as i get very warm when cycling, i'll usually wear a jersey under my hi vis jacket and wrap my buff as headgear under my cap/helmet.
the shorts thing i get away with due to exceptionally hairy legs

It's the other way around, once you've been through the winter there is nothing the summer weather can throw at you that can stop you riding. Plus you do not spend any of the spring weeks trying to get your fitness back, it's already there.
