My project bike is almost done, it's been stripped, resprayed, bits all reconditioned, new parts all arrived, it's about 80% assembled except TWO bits, one of which is now holding everything up.

The rear wheel is away for truing. It's been gone a week and apparently will be gone another week !

Also waiting on a post to is adapter so I can fit the front disc.

It's killing me it looks to nice there in it's near finished state I just wanna take it out for a test

Think I might have to go get drunk or something.

I wouldn't mind so much if I KNEW it was getting done but when I took it in they was saying it was "borderline" and they'd let me know if it was a yay or nay so for all i know it might not be do-able

I might just order new wheels in the week to be honest

I been keeping a little photo diary. Project has taught me alot about bike maintainence that's for sure

Spare wheels will always come in handy. A rebuilt such as this is one of the best way to learn your way around a bike and is so much fun

My main concern is getting the gears setup right which I can't play with till the rear wheel is back!
It's half rebuild half custom build, in that I've salvaged as much as possible but some of it needed new stuff

Salvaged/Reconditioned/Donations for other bikes -

Frame, obviously

Chainrings/Cranks

Stem

Bars

Disc Brakes/calipers

front mech

seatpost

9spd cassette

brake levers

shifters

Peddles

Brought New (either needed or just wanted) -

Headset (Sunline V2)

Forks (old ones where horrible things so got Suntour XCM V3)

Saddle

bottom bracket

all cables

2nd hand -

Rear Mech (probabley coulda used the old but newer one was to tempting so the old goes on project 2)

Sounds like a fun project. Did much the same with my very first (adult) bike but over a period of time. I replaced components one at a time (or as money allowed) until the old bike was a "Triggers Broom".

I agree, it is a very long time, I did a ride a fortnight ago where my back wheel came out of true, as I had a big ride the next day, I raced home to my LBS in the car, took my wheel into the shop, and within 10 minutes the wheel had been trued and all spokes retensioned there and then

Hmm... this pisses me off even more. I've got another problem with the place at the moment. Shall do some investigating me thinks.

Call me an old cynic, but I bet they tell you it's a nay. If it could be done any LBS worth their salt would have had it done within a couple of days.
