A steam ship that sank off Anglesey. Worst ever wreck off there with the loss of 459 lives.
My Bro is tracing our family history and found that our great great grandfather was among those lost.
We have a similar story. My dad's cousin(my 1st cousin once removed) was the grandson of Jock Hume, one of the violin players who went down with the Titanic.
My Grandad's sister went down on the Empress of Ireland in the mouth of the St Lawrence. She'd emigrated to Canada, changed her mind after a short time and was on the way home. When her body was retrieved her belongings were sent home. In her purse were two half sovereigns which he'd given her to make a start in Canada. He kept them all of his life. While the names of the first ad second class passengers, survivors and dead─ are listed below the seems no record of the 3rd class, steerage, passengers in either category.
