The Boris London ride has been announced and registration for the ballot for 20,000 entries is now open. Closed roads from Stratford Olympic Park through London to Surrey and back. Should be fun.

Entered the ballot. Will see what happens, all being well this will be my first outing on a bike with my LEL medal attached!

Obviously the info is staring me in the face no doubt, but I didn't notice entry fee or minimum sponsorship raising amongst all the blurb. Presume that both will be the case?

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Two entries have gone in - we'll wait until both of us have been successful in the ballot to work out how to tell them about tandems!

Is it just me, or are 20,000 cyclists descending on East London for 6am on a Sunday morning going to cause one or two transport and logistical problems - of the sort they don't have to think about for the London Marathon.

I was thinking the same i did see they have spread the start times from 6am-8am and hey lets face it if they can cope with the Olympics im sure they could cope with us :bicycle:lol

I've registered but haven't chosen a charity yet so don't fancy my chances of getting a place.

I'm the same. I'd like to do it, but at £48 i won't be too fussed if i don't get in.

I got a guaranteed place by contacting a charity with allocated places. Loads of charities have places that are allocated outside the ballot

Now Martin, that was a foolish thing to do. However, if you think you can do it, then I reckon I can as well, so I have now registered. We will have Saturday off to rest our legs though

Mods, this isn't really a charity ride is it? although I know people will be doing it for charity, should the thread be moved.

I did wonder why the mods' have moved this thread. It is a sportive, albeit linked to charities. The pro. riders will only be a few hours behind.
