Is that really a hose clip holding the seat suspension onto the frame?

haha! so it is!

but it works
it makes adjusting the seat easier for
people trying out the bike

Excuse the ignorance, but what is the difference between that and yours which I tried? They look pretty much the same if my memory serves me correctly.

this rear wheel drive

Errrm, wouldn't the chain rip the tyres if you turn the thing too sharply? (granted, you're not going to be doing this at too high a speed)
