The Old Grey Whistle Test

For those of you that remember The Old Grey Whistle test, would you know if the Stranglers or the Clash ever appeared on it?

I can't really remember much of it - but a quick Google suggests the Stranglers did, but the Clash did not.

Thinking about it, I don't think the Stranglers ever did play on the Old Grey Whislte Test. They appeared on Rock Goes to College

To my knowledge The Clash did not do the Whistle Test.

I find that these days Bob Harris is very grating was gutted the other week doing a couple of hours drive at night to find that it was his show on Radio 2 and not the most excellent Mark Lamarr who I was expecting to be on.

The Clash would rather have spent their entire career supporting The Osmonds on tour then appearing on TOGWT. Probably.

To my knowledge, The Clash never appeared on 'Whistle Test'. For years, I thought they had, and had performed 'Tommy Gun' - turns out that performance was on Something Else!

However, The Damned did appear and mighty fine they were too! Never ceases to make me smile

... And The Stranglers definitely played Rock Goes To College.
