Good evening ladies and germs.

My nickname is supposed to read QuestionableCarrot but sadly the "t" is cut off at the end. Now I sound like a "chiropractor" or a strange magician from Mexico.

I did a lot of biking as a teenager and then fell in love with golf instead. Golf and I have fallen out over a sore back, so I have returned to the saddle for more downhill action and travelling.

I bought a downhill bike with front and rear suspension but whilst its great for the slopes its not too hot for doing 40 miles from Portadown to Newry.

I hail from Portadown (Co Armagh) Northern Ireland and love getting outdoors to walk, run, cycle and the odd beer.

Im currently in the hunt for a new bike - a hybrid type that I can enjoy on the tow paths/parks. Perhaps someone can help me decide between a Marin or a Trek?

Look forward to that and more...

Welcome to the forum QC (as, no doubt, you'll be shortened to) - hope you like it. We're all pretty friendly and sane, except Bonj who's just barking mad. ;)

Hi Carro :thumbsup::welcome:

I guess you're stuck with that handle, now!

Anyway, thank goodness you've found a real sport! ;) and are now looking to join the road warriors.

I'm not going to get into the Trek versus Marin debate. Fact is, most frames come out of the same factory in Taiwan and it's just a matter of what brand it ends up stickered with.

Compare components and waranteee and, most importantly, a LBS you trust and who offer good backup advice/service.

Do have a look around on my VeloWeb site for information on cycling/touring/commuting.

Welcome QC. Youn tend to find that people who bought a Marin recommend Marin and those Trek support Trek. It's human nature I think but I would guess you'll be happy with either. Try them both for the best fit if you can.
