I've reached around 350 hours of time on the bike(s) and the miles are really starting to pour out now. This week will be the first week I've made 400 miles (provided I get back out) and I feel energised for it!! Not only am I cycling more but getting more done at work and home. Earlier this year I did 125 miles in a day's riding and it neigh on killed me... but with this weeks big effort, I'm feeling really perky... I may even set myself a personal challenge to reach 250miles in 2 days. In short, I am lovin it! I do fear that it will end soon though, anyone any suggestions for maintaining big mile rides.

All I can say is watch you don't overdo it. I did a heavy month in July and only just feel like I am starting to get a bit of oomph back in my legs. Maybe throw in an easy week or at least a few days before your next hard spell?

In some ways Strava is a real motivation, but it'd be easy to get carried away... I'm already thinking how many miles do I need to catch up with @Supersuperleeds in the CTS challenge. I guess it's all good fun if you stay within your limit.

400 miles in a commuting week has been a target of mine this year. Never have quite managed it. If i rode at a weekend its do-able but i very very rarely do. Hats off to you for doing it, nice job.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
This maybe a leading question, but why is your hand numb.

tbh I'm not 100% sure why. It's not painful just achy more in my wrists and arms in general; and my fingers feel stiff. It could be getting used to riding a road bike (I only just got a road bike, all my past riding was on a hybrid/mountain bike) or it could be the bike is not set up quite right and I'm putting too much weight on my hands... possibly a bit of both?

@AndyPeace

It could be your ulna nerve being squashed. I had problems with my right hand, by the end of a ride I would have no feeling in my little finger and it would take a couple of hours for it to come back. I fixed it by getting some gel pad gloves.

If it is both hands, then it could be as you have already mentioned the set up not being quite right.

@Supersuperleeds

I sometimes get the symptoms you described on my Hybrid but only if it's cold weather. The case at the moment is my hands/wrists just feel weak, so weak that even my ultegra shifters are hard to operate and there very light action. I've got a bike fit booked for Monday to take the guess work out of setting up the bike. I think the hand/wrist issue is down to fit, but I have been using cheap Aldi gloves- so maybe better quality ones should go on my wish list.

@Breedon My best week before last week was only 230miles and that was back in the spring. I've been riding between 80-150 miles a week recently...it seems Endurance fitness creeps up on without you knowing.
