We went to see the above, currently on display in Stoke Minster.

Absolutely fascinating display of knitting and crochet to represent the events of D Day. A set of 80 display cases with scenes and some narrative (the guide book is best for the narrative and assists in fundraising.

Recommended - edited to add a couple of pics

Well, write it down boy ......
I went to see this in Stoke Minster yesterday (the last day it's there). It is absolutely brilliant. 80 different scenes, all knitted or crocheted, about events leading up to D-Day and then after. Loved the little vignettes - e.g. a paratrooper collected his parachute, stuffed it into his pack and when he got married his bride's dress was made from the silk. The scene has the parachute sticking out of his pack. One of the scenes recreates a photo of a group of GI's standing having their picture taken with a French family. The little girl in the photo is now 93 and still alive!
It's moving on to Tewkesbury, then Norwich then other places. If you can, make an effort to see it, it is superb! And buy the guidebook, it adds so much.
Thankyou @mistyoptic for posting, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Photos can't do it justice but here are some.
