Oh my word... did anyone else just witness that stupidly misinformed, ridiculously irresponsible 'cyclists' section on BBC2?

It's tongue in cheek.

Don't take it personally.

One idea is to show that people hate everyone else on the road.

it *is* tongue in cheek but...

And yeah basically the driver who *hates* cyclists also hates taxis, lorries, vans, pedestrians, other drivers, etc. etc.

I know... but I still can't help but wonder how many more drivers on my commute in the morning will be cursing the fact that I haven't paid 'road tax' and how many red lights I've jumped...

...Despite the fact that I don't jump red lights and last week I paid £210 vehicle tax.

Surely any negative press (no matter how tongue in cheek) makes the roads a more dangerous and confrontational place for us?

If this was a 'Grumpy old men/women' episode, then really don't take it seriously. I don't think it will have changed any viewers' opinions on cyclists much.

I found it quite funny to be honest.

I couldn't help but notice the hypocrisy of complaining about cyclists jumping red lights then immediately afterwards complaining about being caught breaking the speed limit.

Seconds before the anti cyclist rants began, I'd just said to Mrs GW - surely it's about time they had a go at cyclists as well! All the usual clap trap, but I've heard the same old stuff so many times before from the lardie brigade it's just water off a duck's back now. The show was supposed to be funny after all, although I felt myself feeling more sorry for the fat sods more than anything else!

A fact not lost on the producer, I'm sure. Would love to know what got left "on the cutting room floor" so to speak.

I think the thing that is somewhat less than funny is that the attitudes displayed are held by a considerable number of motorists, hypocritical or not.

I'm looking forward to a "Grumpy Cyclists Guide to Driving" episode...........

It was interesting to see that rlj was mentioned as an annoyance ,so much for the attitude of"people don't care about it" as put over by the rljers .
