The Gordon Brown effect.

Our P.M. turns up at the olympics and suddenly our gold medal hopes fail to win. Our long jumper gets a very credible silver, although he is good enough on another day to win gold,. Then Shanaze Reid, the hot favourite for the BMX crashes out and wins nothing. Should we blame the Brown effect for this?

According to GB our athletes have "showed exactly the same courage, professionalism and dedication" as the troops in Afganistan. So remind me again how many athletes have been shot or blown up this year.
