Hi Guys,

I need some help. As we all know, the weather is Sh..

I have come to the conclusion that the only way that I am going to continue my new found cycling quest is to find a way to do it in the inclement weather here.

I need...

  • Hi vis waterproof beathable top
  • waterproof trousers
  • Waterproof shoes
  • anything else that you might think I need
I need some advice as to where to get these items. I don't have a fortune to spend. My budget is small.. probably £50 for the jacket, £30 for the trousers, etc.

Your guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Russell

Unless it's really lashing it down I just wear a short sleeved jersey with arm warmers, some gloves (winter ones if it's a bit parky) and knee length shorts... I'm not too fussed about getting wet, it's the cold I hate.

www.wiggle.co.uk have loads of stuff, I'm sure others will be along with other websites you could try.

Personally I wouldn't bother with waterproof trousers, wear a pair of cycling shorts/cycling longs and change when your ride is finished. A pair of overshoes are a good idea as is a waterproof jacket.

The all in one suit looks as though it will potentially get around the wet spectacle syndrome that I will undoubtedly face. Can the owner please confirm if this comes with built in wipers or are they an optional extra?

I think there is a place for waterproof trousers. I wear them when it gets cold/frosty over my longs..or at night in th winter. Just wearing the longs is ok , even in the rain, as long as you dont stop. When you stop you get cold and that is when I am happy I have two layers on my engines...erm...legs.

Of all waterproof gear the mos timportant for me anyway is the overshoes...I hate wet roadshoes...they get heavy and stink.

Waterproof gloves are a must, I am about to re mortgage to get some altura NV gloves.

I've borrowed Mr Summerdays NV gloves last winter, and I'm not convinced that they were totally waterproof, and I'm sure I remember they are one of those gloves which the lining separates from the outer when you take them off. What about Sealskin gloves they're meant to be waterproof? (Not tried them yet).
