I've found the Pro4 SC' pretty bomb proof up to a distance, then they p'ture every 2nd ride after that

Same as all tyres, the thread wears thin and is easier to penetrate.

One ride stopping puncture in 10,000+ miles and that was huge bit of glass. Tubeless is the future. Downsides a bit of a faff and expensive running costs plus you should run a tubeless compatible wheel - Upside far less ride stopping punctures, I do get them I am just unaware of them and still relatively light tyre wheel combo.

Oh I don't know at 7.30am in the pishing rain having puncture on the way to work is quite a downside to tubes, that and having a blowout at 20mph+ in fast right hander. The latter was my reason to move over to tubeless. TBH.

I am running the S-One 30mm tubeless on the commuter which is neither a faff nor expensive to run. Just crossed 3500 miles on them. The faster 23mm Schwalbe One on my other bike I was getting 1200-1500 miles on those so pretty expensive at £40 to 55 a pop

I ride about 2500 miles a year

I use the cheapest tyres and tubes can find. (Decathlon Michelin sports 15 quid a pair, tubes 3 for a fiver on offer)

I get about half a dozen punctures in a bad a year, nearly all pinch punctures after hitting pot holes

They take about 5 minutes to fix and I am on road again.

That's about half an hour a year fixing punctures what's the problem?

Share that 'a distance' if you please. I have just bought a pair.

I couldn't say 100% but I think the last set were put since LBL (mid April 2015) and they were changed February 2016, that'd be 6,725 miles no wonder they started p'turing every ride (I had summer wheels, changed to winter wheels and change back and although the tyres were on both wheels I doubt they were on the full 6,725 miles but still most of it ). That's only me though so don't use it as Gospel!
