Hope you had a great day out and lots of keen cyclists!

We had a look at the logistics by train, unfortunately there are no trains that arrive early enough from Edinburgh on a Sunday ...

Looking forward to reading how it went

Thank you, yes we did have a god day out and most of the cyclists were keen ;).

I drove over from Embra, so a lift could have been in the offing, had I but known  - then you would have had NO EXCUSES

Thanks for the offer, I suppose we should have said something on this thread earlier . Sounds like you had good company, no  and not too ;) a day. You haven't mentioned the cakes that we missed yet ...

We ended up doing about 50k from home instead. Along the Water of Leith was very pretty with early autumn colours, and sheltered from the wind. The steep downhill north from Balerno (NCN75) was fun, apart from being blown sideways by a gust at speed where there was a gap in the trees , luckily there were no cars anywhere nearby at the time. Trundled along lots of new (to us) wee roads around Kirknewton and Ratho, and looked across to Fife and wondered how you were all getting on with your ride.
