shimano Tiagra . With brake fully on there is about 2-3mm movement at the rim accompanied by a clunk. Can't see any obvious movement of brake housing, although guess it would be minuscule , just wondering if it is the play in pad fitting, or any other ideas? TIA

Loch side.
You mean there's play when you rock the bike with the brake's clamped?

Pads do move a bit, but only if you don't pull hard enough on the brake. Play is always visible. Get down on your knees and sniff it out.

Brake on as hard as poss, been on knees, can't see what's moving. Should have mentioned it's back brake, so deffo not steering end
