This was on the discovery channel a couple of months back. I have to say out of all three the non cycling program where he ran a number of marathons in succession in the desert was the best.

It was one hell of a program. Good to see Bernie Shroesbury again. Remember him from Survival of the Fittest

I think there was a write up in Outside magazine a few years ago (although it could have been a Nat. Geo.) where three guys 'cycled' the route in summer. You'd think it would be better but the low scrubby ground cover (i.e. about 3 feet high - think mega gorse) without a few feet of snow over it was horrendous - they were having to force their way through with bikes held above their heads. It's not often that I think - 'no I couldn't do that' as I've never been a 'weak and feeble' girlie, but that was a level of exertion and strength beyond anything I've come across. And the bruising looked like they'd been beaten up severely.

There are some nutters out there

Mind you, I used to go climbing in Alaska with two guys who'd done the Iditabike more than once  Weekends used to begin on Friday afternoon with a 30 or 40 mile mtb ride carrying full back country camping gear, food and climbing gear, to the start of the climbing. It's surprising I ever got any work done as I'd be recovering and knackered all week until the next Friday afternoon :becool:
