I just noticed the ad for volunteers to get involved in the CC Blog.

Genuine question: what will said blog involve and what is its purpose? Or indeed what do people think such blog should involve?

I believe it stands for biography log and is the internet equivalent of a diary and therefore much mocked in that individuals think they are interesting enough to fascinate potentially billions with their small doings.

But given that this is a forum blog I'm a bit mystified as to what will happen: I mean it could turn out to be quite good or it might end up like the tea thread.

Despite Andy's cynicism, blogs can be great.

I have a professional one, in which I note things that are interesting in my field and offer the kinds of opinions that I can't in academic papers.

My wife has two at the moment, one which she puts up photos and descriptions of what we are up to for all her friends and family around the world (mainly in Japan) - and most of here friends do this too. It is really nice to be able to see your friends' kids growing up and so on...

She also has a temporary (closed) collective blog for a project she is working on - the team members can share stuff they have discovered or are thinking about. It is very useful.

That's just three kinds, I am sure there are more, some of which are meaningless or egotistical, but most of them are probably more modest and fulfill a useful function.

The blog was my idea.

I wanted to take some of the forums content and present it as articles - a sort of on-going cycling magazine to complement the now quite busy forums.

There are some great posts on the forum, across a broad section of cycling interests, but most of us rarely have time to read it all.

I was hoping that the blog might represent some of the cream of the forum posts, and possibly even specifically written articles that people could read at a more leisurely pace. (Forum members being the key contributors of course.)

I also thought it might act as a puller for the forums - read blog post, see forum link, join in with the forums.

We'll see how it goes.

Cheers,
Shaun

It's actually a weBlog, not a biography log, and it can be for anything. Here is one that amuses me a lot:

As for the Cyclechat one, the editors are currently in talks as to the content, but needless to say, it will be awesome.

It can't be as awesome as that one - thank-you so much! ;)

That answers the question perfectly and it sounds like a good scheme. Would it be more accurate to call it an Emag?
