Am I the only one that agonises over what to wear when i go out for a ride ?

Today I tried on my 3/4 longs for the first time and thought my white calves looked ridiculous . Then I started to worry about what height they should be at ? bugga off to search through past issues of CW and C+ do you think I could find anyone wearing 3/4 longs ? no chance.

Just below the knees and my calves look huge and white and I feel very self -concious as I've never worn them before. At least they have a pad unlike my longs.

Ok thats the longs sorted. Now then the jersey . Do I wear a retro team jersey ? will it look too old and faddy ? maybe I should wear the plain one with long sleeves. But then I'm going to bake in that . Ok I'll wear the short sleeved Saeco jersey but with the plain long sleeved wind proof over the top . Sorted.

Now as I'm wearing the 3/4 longs there is a big gap between my shoes and the longs so maybe I should wear black socks instead of white .??/ ... or maybe just wear some overshoes ughhhhhhhh

Nope.....

Weather freezing...it's the anti freeze kit.....

Weather cool - a couple of base layers and either a plain top or my 'ONE LESS CAR' top.....

Summer - then have a few tops to pick - just grab a matching one - team or whatever...

I have posh weekend kit, and scrappy commuting stuff though. My good kit doesn't go 'commuting' !

I go so fast that people can't see what I am wearing, well that's my theory anyway, and I only have one set of shorts and only one jersey, so have to combine that with the leg warmers/arm warmers, s/s base layer, l/s baselayer, gilet, overshoes etc to make sure that I warm enough. I don't really care about what I look like, I just care more about what my legs look like, and if there is a group of girls at a junction i will often tense p my claves to make them look impressive:blush:

I find it's pretty easy... either winter bibs or summer bibs. Winter Jersey or summer Jersey. Black, Blue or red Buff? Mmmmm

I certainly do. If it is a short ride then lycra. If it is a longer one over 15 minutes then it will invariably involve a pub stop, and I think very carefully about what I should wear, depending on how long I will be in there, whether I stay for food, and whether I'm likely to get into a fight.

If it's cold then long sleeves, base layer and tights, medium temps long sleeve and shorts, hot weather short sleeves and shorts. I tend to wear the shirts and shorts as a pair and not mix them up but as I only have one team outfit (which is rarely worn) then the mix and match problem doesn't really exist.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I worry about what I wear, but only because of the temperature and weather, not because of how I look. If I worried about how I looked, I probably wouldn't cycle at all. :becool:

The trouble with the temperature, is that you'll only get the temperature about right for 30 seconds in the middle of the ride, you'll be too chilly at the start, and too hot at the end!

Of course, once you have decided on what to wear, you'll find it's in the bottom of the laundry basket.

Winter time there isn't much choice and its all dull and hidden under the layers....

summer time ... well that's when its all more fun - so many choices short sleeves, no sleeves or strappy, what colour, on the bottom half is it 3/4, knee length or shorts. So much more fun in summer:biggrin:

I suspect that I'm like baggy (fear of underlayering); I can spend ages getting sorted but it's usually over being dressed right for the weather conditions rather than what looks right - though I do have a bit of that... a bit :becool:

At the moment, it's quite difficult to get right since the mornings are starting out at 2 or 3C but warming up to 16 or 17. So it's a matter of layering up to strip off as the day progresses.
