Nearly every time I go out on my No2 bike, I get a puncture. Front tyre this time so now I have two punctures on each wheel!
I must say that I dont use my No 2 bike very often as I prefer my No 1 which has gone to my LBS for "doing something with the gears as apparently Specialized had fitted the wrong component". I should get it back tomorrow.
In the meantime, I have been using No2 for training but I dread having a puncture with it each time and today, well, front tyre went.
Tyres are Kendas and they are absolute crap!!
So I will be changing them for Specialized All Condition shortly as I know they are good, reliable tyres. That's what I have on my Allez and no problem whatsoever. ( Am I tempting fate now?)

Same thing happened when I bought my new bike....came with shoot tyres and punctured 3 times in a week. Good quality tyres are defiantly worth the cost in both time and saved inner tubes.

I've been very lucky to date with Gatorskins.

In writing this, I do not intend in any way to provoke any sort of ire or displeasure in any of the very fine and generous air-pressure-related minor deities who may read my comment.

I'm just saying that Gatorskins have so far.....

No.... I've done it now..... Might as well take a track pump strapped to my back tomorrow and six spare tubes.

Bother!

I used to have the same issue with my MTB. After numerous punctures I bought a fresh set of tubes and a pair of Kevlar weave tires, and have had no issues since.

tyre pressure could be an issue. Mine came with Kenda's,they still on it and the bikes done 2135 miles to date... Thats been through woodland,on road,a tour with 25 kg of weight and i have had one puncture in all that time!

Using Kenda tyres you will get lots of punctures. Use a good tyre and you will get no punctures. Simples.

Don't tar all Kenda tyres as crap, they make more and less puncture resistant tyres just like the competition. I managed over 2K miles with my Kriteriums before I had a visit.

Staying out of the gutter and tyre pressure is key imo. Saying that, Marathons and their heftier brothers are fairly close to p*ncture proof.

I think it mainly boils down to what you pay. If you buy a decent tyre with good puncture protection layers punctures are rare. I ride about 5-6000 miles a year and probably get 2 punctures a year (of course they are always at the most inopportune times - in the rain, running late...).

If I get two puntures in a short period of time I reckon it's time to buy new tyres.

I have tried gatorskins and whilst they are puncture resistant I, personally, find they can be a bit skiddy in the back end. I have Michellin Pros on No. One bike and Marathons on my commuting bike. I got a puncture on the Marathon on the first day I rode on them! Sod's law. Since then I have ridden them for 18 months puncture free. The first puncture was probably a pinch puncture from trapping the tube when I put the tyres on - so my own fault.

I bought a set of Schwalbe Ultremo ZX tyres earlier this year at a very good price but haven't fitted them yet (Michellin Pros giving good life). Does anyone know how good they are with punctures etc..?

I had the same problem with the tyres that came with my bike, despite the LBS telling me they had "pretty good" puncture protection.

I now use Vittoria Rubino Pros. I rode through a Cornish winter on them without a single puncture, so figure they must be good. The only downside to them is they lose grip easily in the wet, but that doesn't tend to be a problem now I live in Spain.
