I've lurked around the forum for a long time but only posted once in the welcome section.

I bought my bike a year ago with every good intention of riding it a lot but somehow never got round to it. It has been reading this forum and the inspirational stories in it that has finally got me on my bike.

For about the last month I have been riding regularly and tonight I have just finished my first ever 20 mile ride which I am really happy about, so I just wanted to say thank you.

I have got a load of weight to shift, which is why I bought the bike in the first place, but reading your stories reminded me of how much I loved cycling as a kid, and actually sticking my backside on the bike has made me love it again!

Good for you.
Glad you enjoyed your ride and keep at it.

Well done. They reckon the first step is the biggest, and you've made that with a bundle more to keep it company.

Don't be shy to let us know how you're doing. It's great to read about people getting pleasure from what is an incredible invention, and as you've pointed out, this board has some welcoming and supportive people, so any problems tend to become little ones when shared.

Awesome effort!

Losing weight is only part of the benefits. Getting your heart going, fresh air in your lungs and clearing your head are but a few others. Enjoy!

Well done!
I've been back on my bike for almost 2 years now. The furthest I've ridden is 35 miles but I'm happy pottering about on either the hybrid or MTB.
I am hoping to lose more weight and do a long weekend on the bike next summer.

Thanks everyone. As someone said above the best thing is getting out in the fresh air.

Last night I found out that I actually enjoy riding in the rain. I suppose living in England this is a good thing!
