I gave up fixing sks mudguards to my Boardman Urban Comp a few months ago, and have been using race blades which are better than nothing but not my much. Armed with some tips from this forum (especially using a cable tie and that it would take time) and the extra time that Boxing day brings I have succeeded. All now seems fine but wait for the test ride!

are you saying raceblades are crap?

They are when there lots of standing water. What i found was your arse didnt get wet because the raceblade protected that. But when there was standing water, the water splashed from the wheel onto the seat tube, then onto your legs and that slowly went down to your feet.
I only have the Giant version(they were cheaper, but just the same as the raceblades) and only ever put one on my bike, never use the front one.
If your in a group when its wet, raceblades dont stop the splash going onto the person behind.
They arent crap, they are good for taking on and off, but they arent as good as full mudguards.

They are better than nothing but you still get spray from the road in a way that you don't with full mudguards. Not only does the rider get wetter/dirtier but the bike also gets noticeably more dirty.
