Hi, I'm currently training by heart rate. I took the test 20 minutes before starting the base.

Soon I will finish the base, need to do another test 20 minutes or this is not necessary?.

Some have told me that for training by heart rate is not necessary. Trained by watts if that would be necessary for training short series of high intensity.

What should I do?. The ideal is a potentiometer, but I can't buy at present.

Thanks! ;).

I have no idea what you are asking but I found training by heart rate pretty pointless and difficult to adhere to any kind of plan due to how much it fluctuates. I use a hrm every ride but only to look at the numbers and to see how long I didn't in each zone etc.

If you want to train with the use of a tool you really need a power meter. It's much more black and white and you can actually properly structure a plan and track improvement properly.

My average heat rate for any given ride is usually very similar to when I first started riding.

It's useful if you want to track any evidence of improvement.

Have mine too but more than anything its to see whether my recovery pattern during HIIT or to see what fuel I'm burning.
It would be interesting but its affected by a number of other factors so take it with a pinch of salt; perhaps make sure you're fully rested before doing another test.

Might be better complete the whole plan and then I do another Test to quantitatively assess the impact of the training plan?.

I mean, if I had potentiometer would be interesting to carry out tests more often...

Thanks ;).

Approaching perfection from a distance.
Why don't you just use average speed. Same route, same general wind speed/direction. Probably more accurate than heart rate alone. Or do it on a turbo where things are more controllable.
