Found them ... in the DIY section apparently ... however there were 2 torches both saying they were 3 watt cree torches. One took 2 C cells and the other took 2 AA (I think) which one was I supposed to get? If they both are 3 watt won't they both kick out the same amount of light... is it just that the small battery one won't last as long but will be lighter. Or have I not understood this properly.

Well, write it down boy ......
I have both of these lights and the AA version gives a much better beam. I had assumed they would be the same and that the C cell would simply last longer but the beam patterns on mine are different. The C cell is more focussed and gives a narrow beam whereas the AA gives a flood effect.
For the money the AA is hard to beat for a front light. With rechargeables it makes a lot of sense.

Just bought the £8 AA cell version... chuffin' hell, it's bright, much brighter than my £30 ish Cat eye or my cheaper smart. OK the battery life on the others are longer and will also flash, but for use on the darkest parts of my Nightime rides, the torch is absolutely unbelievable. Nice beam spread too.

I've just bought one for a similar reason and I was impressed with it too. I ended up buying one of those twofish lockblocks too.

I have also just purchased the £8 3w AA torch and with the new VAT it cost £7 and a bit!
WOW!! This is fantastic! gives a good beam of 'daylight' for a good 20 feet in front of me on the unlit cycle tracks on my way to work. Off to buy another tomorrow to fit one to my helmet.

IMO for price and quality this cant be matched

Two jubilee clips and a bit of old innertube = fantastic light and great value!

I have been trying to tell people how good they (or rather the better Fenix version) are for some time now.

I know Mikey, but some of us old traditionalists find Carbide lamps a hard habit to break!

Had mine fitted a few weeks now and I've noticed that vehicles don't seem to pull out of side roads anymore... even though I'm quite a distance away and there's plenty of time for them to do so! Almost feel a bit embarressed when I eventually reach them!

The other night, a taxi wanted to turn right out of a side road and started to edge out but stopped as soon as he saw me (I was still a good 15-20 metres away and wasn't cycling fast)... I was on the main road and wanted to turn right into the road that he was coming out of. As the side road was quite narrow, and there were no other vehicles on the main road, I waved the taxi out but he didn't move. It wasn't until I was almost upon him that he pulled out... and he even gave me a wave ;)

Brilliant torch/light... but my rechargeable batteries only last about 1 and a half hours before they dim. Not really a problem but I may give a higher capacity or those hybrid batteries a try.
