Don't know if this is the right place for this, but it is being reported that someone has killed 8 people by deliberately driving a pick up on to a cycle path in Lower Manhatten, New York, in what authorities are calling a terror attack, R.I.P to the victims.

Edit: Now followed the link. Obviously wasn't explicitly an attack on cyclist, but as a cyclist I take it particularly to heart.

Deliberate. He drove off the road and onto a bike path. He was deliberately targeting cyclists and pedestrians.

If I recall correctly, there's walls and often big plants between the carriageway and cycleway. Although there's few physical obstructions to driving along it, you'd have to turn onto the cycleway very deliberately, similar to turning onto railway tracks at a level crossing.
