These brakes seem to be about half the weight of equivalent campag units, even the skeleton ones.

Anyone using them, or know anything about them?

Many thanks

I read these are Alloy covered with a carbon fibre laminate/veneer.

Myth ??

R740s are plain aluminium. 12g lighter than 750s. The 12g accounts for the stick on carbon fibre look covering.

Which actually is carbon fibre. Carbon is often used to reinforce metals, there's nothing underhand about wrapping a metal in carbon, it's not necessarily a purely cosmetic practice.

Well then, damned by faint praise (at best).

I'm not really sensing any good reason to deviate from campag, unless there are any other good brakes I should be considering?

I think the Tektro 750s also have some nice quality bearings, so they should be smooth in actuation - if you care about that kind of thing (I do). I think they were briefly tested in a recent Cycling + magazine.

Ah, the winter rebuild ponderance threads have started!

Yeah, I'm building up one of these, it really is quite a stunning frame.

Confession - I nicked the photo. Mine's not quite in such perfect condition, but it's pretty good and will look fine when built up (I hope).
