In the hope of making myself more employable, I'm taking a TEFL Course. Have any of the CC collective taken one? If so any advice or tips?

I live in Newcastle and there are plenty of foreign students so I'm hoping that I'll find it relatively easy to find work once I've qualified, though I'm taking nothing for granted.

The 2 I studied as a start are i-i tefl and TEFL Cambridge.

Both gave me a good head start teaching English abroad before doing a teaching degree here in HK.

If you already have a uni degree, you could do a PGCE with Sunderland Uni online. A few English teachers I know have studied this. But do check to see if you need a uni degree before studying the PGCE.

The course I'm doing is through Qualifi, which seems pretty comprehensive. I figured I'd go on and do a PGCE if I had to, but it doesn't seem like I would, unless I'm misunderstanding?

If you want to teach in a school, especially abroad, a PGCE/PGDE is essential. Also, a PGCE does help even teaching people in Newcastle as you’ll get the practical experience needed.

I don’t know about Qualifi so I can’t help there sadly.

My friend calved out work in various language colleges on the back of it. He later went on to do a delta certificate. No regrets.

I met many thinking of doing it. Opinion seemed split between intensive one month, or sixth month options. Some warned how intense it is.

According to the progress chart I'm about half way through, that's after 4 of 10 Units. My sister is slightly ahead of me and has finished 5, with the 5th preparing you for the first of 3 assignments. I'm hoping to do it in about a month, but some sections are a lot trickier than others, so 6 weeks is probably more realistic.
