Please elaborate a bit...

As a initial guide.....sit on bike, no shoes, and with the crank/pedal at it's lowest, you should only just be able to touch the pedal axel with the heal of your foot with your leg straight....... do not take any notice of feet to floor.....

If you are getting clipless pedals, then your ball of the foot should be directly over the axel....., same applies if not, but you need a grippy pedal and shoe then.

Most folk ride a bike where the heals of the shoe stop the shoe sliding forward...this is a poor foot location..

ok, well to elaborate.

I have normal trainers. and tends to have my foot on the peddal with the back of the ball/middle of my foot on the peddal.
I dont know if my seat is too high or low, but has felt comfortable to me.

do i need to have my weight on the seat forwards or back. i find i sit forward for downhill, and then readjust and put my bum to the back of the seat, almost hanging over at other times.

I'm sorry to sound thick, but as i build up the intensity i dont want to cause an injury.
