Need some guidance - I took my wheel into a LBS to convert from Sram to Shimano and after trying to get the part I gave up, I went and collected the wheel the other day and put on the bike tonight but something isn't right, I can't back pedal and its almost like the wheel has been converted to a fixie (If I stop pedaling the chain basically folds on itself)

Any ideas how this has happened and what I need to do to fix it

On a side note the shop has a guy that works in the shop who is very dodgy and I highly suspect he has tampered with it.

Just to add this is a brand new wheel

What part were you after? A change of freehub? Because what you describe sounds like it's freehub related. What was the reasoning behind the swap to Shimano as a matter of interest?

it was to convert the wheel from Sram to Shimano to put on a different bike - I couldn't get the part so I went back to the shop to pick the wheel up.
Put it on the bike today and I can't backpedal and if I pedal and then stop (to freewheel) the chain goes slack

I suspect the dick at the shop has done something to it as he has a grudge against me cause I called him out for stealing a parcel when he was a courier.

Well it's definitely symptomatic of a freehub playing up. If it's a brand new wheel I'd take it back to where you bought it and ask them to take a look at it. A new back wheel shouldn't have issues with a freehub. Or you could remove the cassette and take a look at the freehub yourself to make sure it looks new seeing as it's a new wheel. If it's got score marks on it then it isn't a new freehub and could potentially have been swapped.

Think ive fixed it but not very tech savvy - I put the two (3rd pic) into the wheel and put the cassette back on (I couldn't tight it though the way I would normally tighten a cassette)

Can free wheel and backpedal now

How many sprockets on the cassette and tooth range? Was it an XD body?
