How much does it cost to Oldham?
OK, in CP's thread I asked if anyone wanted a big lad's Team time trial, and peanut and CP foolishly said yes.

Next question. What are we gonna do about it? Peanut's in Somerset and CP's in Hull.I'm in Manchester. I can envisage problems with logistics, not insurmountable, but problems all the same.

which time trial?

how to train for said TTT?

Are you intending to do a *proper* time trial as organised by CTT? If so, you all need to be members of a club(s) affiliated to the CTT.

If you have a couple of hours before the event you should be able to figure out how to rotate well enough- if you are all comfortable riding in a group already it doesn't take long to get it good enough.

The trick is to ensure that no-one is ever surprised by which side the lead rider peels off from. Either do it the same side everytime (not the best technique, but OK if you haven't had much practice) or into the wind (better shelter for the riders drafting, but the team may need a bit more practice to get this down).

Ideally you'll have a few practice sessions to allow the team to gel- but this is unlikely, you'll probably manage by shouting. It's a good idea to figure out who is strongest in practice, they'll do longer pulls. If you are very mismatched the strongest rider may be on the front a lot. 20-30s a pull is typical, but it does depend on what works for the team. When on the front you should be working harder than you would in an individual TT as you'll get to recover while drafting.

There's a nice 3 up TTT near Thame (Longwick) in April, organised by Antelope RT, 31 miles (50 km). I've just checked the CTT website and it is on next year.

It's much more interesting than doing an individual TT.

That's the H50km/19 which doubles up as the BUCS TTT. I'm keen on riding it again next year but it would either be as a university alumni team or CC. I have been looking at CTT affiliation for CC in 2010 as TriTalk got it earlier this year. This would facilitate riders wanting to just try an open TT and also entry into a TTT (where riders need to belong to the same club).

Could be up for that? If I'm quick enough

Not so. Certainly wasn't the case a couple of years ago - composite teams were allowed, but usually not eligible for prizes unless a specific composite team prize is catered for by the organiser. Of all the time trials WCMnr took part in, where there were two-ups or three-ups (2 in a team or three in a team) there was many a compostie team - including ones where WCMnr was a member of such a team, indeed, when I think about it, every team event he took part in he formed part of a composite team. What you may find is that the organiser insists on both riders wearing the same kit - in which case you both need to be wearing plain kit, each same colour.

most CCT afiliated clubs that organise CTT events offer a one day CTT membership for £3.00 or so on the day. Its not necessary to join CCT or a cycle club to try time trialling
