OK, all the stages have updated in the overall classification now and everyone seems to be showing all the stages they posted, so I have closed the February League, and big thanks to all 17 members who took part! :okay:

Congratulations to (Elite) Adam for a well deserved win, and the dedication to put in a couple of last minute sessions when needed! :bravo::bravo::bravo:

Congratulations also to Bill for a close second place and pushing both Adams so hard ...

Third was Adski, who also won the "Geoff" prize for the most aggressive (and audacious) rider ... :banghead:

Kipster just missed out on the podium by a few minutes, then there was a bit of a gap to the rest of us ...

Commiserations to Randy, who missed 6th place by 0.6 of a second!

3 stage wins went to (Elite) Adam and Bill got the other stage win, on Rundlestone (perhaps not surprisingly, the longer climb).

Sprint and Mountain points still seem to be extremely broken, Bkool had said they hoped to fix it in the next release.

March's league will probably start sometime tomorrow, enjoy ...

Brilliant, thankyou Geoff. A cracking league, really enjoyed it. For me it has highlighted weaknesses that I need to address, primarily flat, high cadence speed work, and my ability to handle defeat. I think I might be able to work on the first, the second could be a lost cause.

Thanks very much Geoff. I'm very proud of my second place in what turned out to be an excellent and exciting league with super close racing and really no chance to relax at all. I think I've tried harder and spent more time thinking about this league lately than I have with the Mountain Goats league, although I'm going to try and get the next Goats league to be almost as exciting, and I have a plan in mind for that.
For the next leagues I don't expect to be able to compete with Elite Adam, but I sure as hell will try my best to keep the rest of you behind me, although that job is getting much much harder. I may need to concentrate my tactical moves against a certain few ;). Cant wait!!

Congratulations to Elite Adam for pulling out the stops to thwart my crafty plan. I don't expect to come so close next time.

Stages
Stage 1 (Jurassic Classic 50km) is quite long, the longest we've had yet, but due to an error in the official GPX that I used the gradients are less than half what they should be, so it's lumpy but never steep.

I was concerned it might take too long so I gave it a go myself last night and at the 2/3rds point I had taken just over an hour and averaged exactly 20mph, so I would guess my best time would be just over an hour and a half (the power men should be faster).

http://www.bkool.com/bkoolSessionHistory/showSessionSummary/1093845

I am hopeful that most can complete in under 2 hours but I propose that we have an option to post an incomplete stage if it is taking too long, and so long as it is over an hour and completed at least 60% (30 km/18.75 miles) I'll adjust the time pro-rata plus 5% of the adjustment. This should allow people who can't afford more than an hour or so to take part in the stage, without giving an advantage for stopping early.

Sound fair?

Stage 2 (Vuelta 2012 E15) is a 15.6km constant (14.9km) climb, but gentle with a max gradient 5.85% average 1.87%. Should take 30-45 minutes and could be good for pushing FTP's.

Stage 3 (
Lake Simcoe - Lake Dr East) is a very nice 16.8km rolling (but fairly flat) ride that I know some of you already use. My best time is 25 mins 44 seconds. Take it easy and have a look around? ;)

Stage 4 (
Cheddar Gorge Climb) is another short steep climb from the 100 Greatest Cycling Climbs. Only 4.1km, steep in the first part of the climb through the gorge, the max gradient is 15%, it then flattens out to bring the average down to around 5%. Unfortunately no 3D or video at the moment, they may do it before the 25th March?

Stage 4 will be preceded by the usual Velodrome thrash on Thursday/Saturday. To try and find a way for the Velodrome to count towards the league I have included a dummy session (Warm Up?) and set the classification criteria so that all sessions should require acceptance. That way I can adjust the times to match the Velodrome times.

The plan is that anyone taking part in the Velodrome does a very short session in the Warm-Up then quits and saves. This session must be shorter than the Velodrome session to allow me to adjust it, so only a few minutes would be best. This can be done before or after the Velodrome. Once a short time is posted, give me a link to your Velodrome session and I'll add the time to adjust the dummy session to match. Presto (hopefully)!

A mix of climbs, long runs, sprints and Velodrome, hopefully something for everyone.
Hope you can all take part, and hope you enjoy it. :bicycle:

Thanks Geoff. These look great. Now I can schedule my work excuses and wife motorcycle purchase threat accordingly. Thanks to whoever came up with that gambit.

Edit. At work I can say I want to run something by a European IT manager. (Kipster)

I would actually join you tomorrow, but I have to go do a Mate's Rates kitchen fit after work. I would rather be on the Turbo, rest assured. Have a good ride. Do me a good ghost guys, you too Kip.
