Alexander Kolobnev has tested positive for a masking agent. He can technically carry on until the B sample is tested, but the UCI expect Katusha to withdraw him.

Wow. It's jolly clever how they test for the "masking agent" rather than the dope itself.

It's easy enough to use one molecule to mask another if you have a close relationship with a very clever pharmacist who understands molecular chemistry and gas chromatography.

Molecules masking other molecules are one of the features of routine GC analysis that mean you need a lot of experience to interpret the readout.
