Servicing cup and cone bearings.

It's a pain to get that extra fine balance balace between free running and no side-to-side sway.

My second hate is replacing gear cables - always a pain to get the gears perfect.

All of them. The word 'task' for me implies something I don't want to do.

Equally, I find it impossible to accept that anyone enjoys their job.

To be honest, about the only thing I have to do that I don't call a task but others might is mowing the lawn. For some weird and wonderful reason, I enjoy that. Everything else is a lamentable chore.

If it's cycling-related, then it's one of the most basic there is: inflating my tyres.

I really need a decent footpump to use at home to get max inflation, but out on a ride, when I'm cold, tired and hungry, and want to get home quickly, then fixing a pun*ture and pumping up the tyre, often knocking my knuckles on the spokes, really gets to me.

Non-cycling related: paperwork.

Tax returns, mortgage and pension plans, bank statements and payments etc. - I hate doing it, but get round to it eventually, albeit very reluctantly.

Painting and decorating, mainly as I’m not very good at it
Equally, I find it impossible to accept that anyone enjoys their job.
When I was working I did enjoy my job as a Blacksmith and my part time job as a security guard in Southampton docks I use to do the night shift, I use to love just walking around all the ships at night.

Painting, tiling, plumbing of any kind, wallpapering, anything which involves a ladder higher than my head, pointing bricks, felting, any work on the car, anything which involves kneeling, making beds, gardening.. I'm sure there's more..

Cleaning dishes - not the actual doing of it, I quite like that, but the fact you know you are going to have to do it all over again in a few hours.

Also cleaning that little triangle between the chainstays, seat tube and strengthening bar, or cleaning spokes.

I used to detest removing old 5 or 6 speed screw on freewheels.

The annoyance of that task is balanced out a bit by the chance to hit something hard with a mallet though
