Hi all as title suggests do you as a newbie or seasoned rider set yourself targets for distance, climbing etc? I've created one this evening after reading about the tour of britain coming near us (oxfordshire) so i looked at 2 of there climbs, chinnor hill and kop hill. I have now created a route on strava called the big one! and aim to complete this before the end of october (fingers crossed)http://www.strava.com/athlete/routes.
Would be good to hear other peoples targets.
thanks

I want to up my distance but gradually longest ride I've done so far is just over 30 miles and that included a couple of quick water stops and a coffee break at half way.my main target is just continue enjoying it.I think it gives me a sense of freedom I can stop when and where I like for as little or as long as I want don't have to keep checking speed etc like in a car or trying to find a parking place...I think most of you know what I mean lol

A couple of targets this year. My usual is to do 3000 miles for the year. Last year I missed it by nearly 300 miles but this year it looks like I'll exceed it later this month if all goes well.^_^

The other target is to complete the Metric Century a Month Challenge. This is my first time and I'm doing okay with it so far but there's a busy month coming up so I'm going to have to stop being such a fair-weather cyclist to complete it I suspect.

I try to avoid being a target . For some reason, Australian motorists get target fixation with cyclists here: it must be our fit, toned bodies and good looks, or something... They just can't resist us.
