If the night nurse says avoid alcohol,do that, but making sure your nose and airways are clear will help more with a good nights rest, vic nasal spray is good it works almost instantaineously, and a good steaming bowl of hot water with menthol chrystals and a towel over your head.

Definitely go for the brandy  Just make sure you have a loud alarm clock for the morning wake up.

I'm a bit limited to supplies!

Hopfully the NN will do its stuff; the brandy will, hopefully, put me into a deeper sleep. I'm blocked up - both nostrils - sneeze a lot and have started coughing.

I just wondered if it was unadvisable to mix medication with alcohol.

Thanks for your replies!

I'll have a small brandy.

I've spread a layer of Tiger balm under my nose - hopefully it'll be of benefit.

I'm not dead yet, Col, but I will be one day; just hope it isn't for a while!

Same here:biggrin:

Day Nurse at night = no problem
Night Nurse at night = snoring machine. The one time I took it, I was out for the count most of the next day. (And I'm not talking about a pint of the stuff either...just a reg. dose).

Get better soon Dayvo - and may the grass be cut and not half cut tomorrow morn...

Night Nurse liquid is a complete night-time cold treatment; do not take with any other flu, cold or decongestant products or other paracetamol-containing products at night, or with alcohol.

Just a small one then!
Hope your feeling better soon.

After using the Tiger Balm I hope he was careful going to the toilet before getting into bed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Speaking from experience, Keith? ;)

Should have stayed in bed this morning. The ride in normally takes about 20 mins taking in a long steepish hill, and a short bugger of a hill; this morning it was 30 - I just couldn't breathe. Sitting down on a grasscutter didn't make things easier. But I had a long hot shower afterwards and felt mad enough to go for a longer, different ride home, so as to make the most of a wonderful autumn day.

I think I'll just have the brandy tonight. Unless the nurse comes round, of course!
