Went to Decathalon today to purchase a Triban 3 and ended up buying the Triban 5

I am more than pleased with it, carbon forks and rear stays plus better components than the 3.

They threw in a set of reasonable quality lights and changed the clipless pedals to miniclips because I had never used clipless and dont have the cycling shoes to suit yet all at no charge but let me keep the original pedals as well.

The service I received was top class.

I have the Fitness 3 which came in at the same price point: it is flat-barred and still has carbon forks and seat stays. It is a really lovely bike, and is much admired. I hope that you enjoy your new purchase.

I went for a short ride today (3 miles) it felt really weird, I have been riding an MTB mostly (but not very much) in places like Epping Forest and the New Forest.

Taking a road bike on the road was a bit nerve racking and as I am 61 and the last time I rode a "racer" as it was called then I was 19 I expected it to be "strange" still by the end I was feeling fine although I was bloody cold.

I have had the clipless pedals replaced with pedals fitted with strapless miniclips, is it worth thinking about going clipless or is it much of a muchness?
