The left knee ,the one i had an op on in Feb .And which was a great success.Has given up the ghost .I had an MRI scan two weeks ago .I got a phone call from the Doc's receptionist to say the results were in and not to come down i was being sent straight to Hospital .So doing the two freebie charity decorating jobs this year .All the bending, kneeling, twisting, reaching .Did knacker up the insides .So back to square one .And a major decision no more volunrary work .My knee and cycling take first place from now on .
So if you have a dodgy knee put your health first .

Ouch, bad luck - I hope they can repair the knee again!

I'd love to go running, but every time I try it these days my hips ache for a week afterwards (I've got the early stages of osteoarthritis in them). We just have to accept that there are some things we have to be cautious about as we get older.

I'd say you are wise to cut back on what you do in the future.

the onward march of time - it gets us all. Try and focus on the things you can still do and enjoy as we are all heading only in one direction!

I find that cycling is fine as long as I gear right down for steep hills. I'm pretty good at spinning the pedals round anyway, so I don't find that a problem.

As for voluntary work - I suppose you could always volunteer to do things that didn't affect your knees! Doing the shopping for very old people, that kind of thing.

look into becoming a community or lea appointed governor for a local primary school; there's usually a spare place for both and schools with places are always keen to recruit new governors. as long as you have an interest in education, that's all that matters…
