Hi Guys,
I'm impressed by the Tacx VR trainer and would have bought one before, but they've always been PC only and I use a Mac. I really don't want to/can't afford to buy a PC just to use with it.

Does anyone know whether the 2011 version is Mac compatible?

If not I suppose the up-side is that it'll save me the considerable expense.

Cheers

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, I'd love a Tacx but could never justify it's expense. By way of a curveball though, have you seen this site http://www.thesufferfest.com/ I think I shall purchase one as my virtual poor man's Tacx

Thanks Crackle.....
Interesting (and slightly cheaper) solution to the VR question

I've since found that the Tacx isn't Mac compatible. Anyone know if there's a sneaky way to trick it into working with a Mac?

Cheers

I would normally expect to set up a trainer in the garage, how would a PC stand up to typical garage conditions? I'm interested, probably not re the Tacx, but I do spend time, when fettling, scuttling backwards and forwards checking online instructional videos. If I could setup a cheapie PC in the garage that would be very handy. I'd always assumed it was a no-no, but have realised that's based on no real world knowledge whatsoever.

Can't imagine that conditions in the average garage would be utterly inimical to running a PC there, provided it's more-or-less dry and perhaps that you don't have it turned on at less than -5 deg C , but you might find you need to take the top off every so often and hoover the dust out. I wouldn't keep the machine with the only copy of my half-finished novel and all my household accounts out there, and I'd revise this view if the garage was full of swarf-generating machine tools, but for an old or cheap box I doubt I'd worry too much. There are PCs in worse conditions in student digs up and down the country ;-)

Probably be fine: I used to set PC's up on site and the conditions they survived in gave me a healthy respect for the abuse they'll take. One was so full of dust and fluff when it came back I had to use an industrial hoover on it before I could see any components. Use the AV power adaptors to take ethernet to your garage if you've no signal there.

I have a Tacx Fortius which I use with a Mac. I run Parallels Desktop, and have the software installed in that.
