Tablets & Garmin 500

Looking out for a new tablet & was hoping to get one that I could upload Garmin data through a usb port, but I've been told that you can't upload from a Garmin 500 to a tablet through a USB port? Anyone think or know any different? Don't want to pay the earth for the tablet either, will prob just invest in a new laptop if the info is correct.

As above, I have a usb to micro usb adapter (about £2 from China) to plug the Garmin ant stick into my HTC phone then use ST uploader to transfer, then export it to Garmin connect then sync it to endomondo and strava with tapiriik.
overkill? Maybe but it takes a couple of minutes, less time than it took to fire up my laptop.

So if I get any tablet (with a usb port) with android os & download St Uploader it should work? Any tablet recommendations that defo would be compatible?
