Sylvia Syms dies at 89

I'm sure many on here remember her. Great actress and was particularly noted for her part in Ice Cold in Alex alongside John Mills, one of my favourite films of all time. More recently she played the Queen Mother in The Queen.

A true great never got the big parts she deserved , over came so much at a young age.
Had to believe that due to the studio system she only got £30 a week for most of her film work inc Ice Cold in Alex. Which happens to be Mrs 73 favourite film sad to think it was only on the TV a few weeks ago.

A really versatile star. Always made an impact in large or small parts and developed into a very good character actress in later life. She deserved to get much bigger roles but what a wonderfully long and interesting career she had. Bit of a national treasure really.

Sylia Syms was tempted by Hollywood studios to go over there, but refused to go preferring to play her trade in Britain.
A very good actress and a long and varied career.
