Swapping SD card Between Garmin 705 to 800 Units

My Garmin 705 has the full european micro sd card, could you load it into the Garmin 800 and would it recognise it or is there a registration issue with doing this.
Obviously an 800 unit without the sd card is considerably cheaper than one with the full maps, any info would be most helpful.

My understanding is that map data purchased on SD card is tied to the physical card. You can use the card in any Garmin GPS, but if you take a copy of the card data on your PC, it will only work if copied back onto the same card (eg after you accidentally overwrite the map data).
Map data purchased on DVD can be copied to any number of SD cards, but will only work on the GPS used during the registration process. It may also us used on any PC/laptop.
