Swapping cassettes from wheel to wheel...

Okay, have bought a new cassette/chain combination which I've used for the last 300 or so miles on my newish carbon wheels but, for various reasons, think it would be best for club runs to run my Alu Ksyriums instead. For a start they feel a bit ridiculous for a club run.

So, happy to change the cassette over because it probably needs a clean anyway but in the longer term if I'm going to be chopping and changing over the summer depending on rides, sportives, club runs etc is it not worth buying a new chain and cassette combination for each set of wheel? I know this seems obsessive but am wondering whether anyone does this, or do most folks just change the cassette from one wheelset to another until both are knackered?

Thoughts would be welcome and besides, would it be wise to have two separate chains running alternate to each other? How many of you might use the same chain then with two different caseettes, so long as they are the same ratios...?

Thanks.

Am toying with the idea myself. at least if we use the same cassette, the chain and cassette should wear together.

I think I'd be putting a cassette for each set of wheels, in an ideal world a chain for each cassette as well. Quicklinks make swapping chains easy but it 'd be a bit of a faff to swap cogs all the time. I use a KMC chain as it runs a little quieter than some and reusable link unlike SRAM links which are one time only.
Hows the old pier holding up these days? It had not long fallen down when I went north to seek fame and fortune.

Many thanks people, agree about the SRAM links on the 10-speed Rusty B. They have to be the most clueless thing SRAM have ever done. Wanting your chain to snap so you can put on a reusable Powerlink, opposed the standard Powerlock is not the most healthy outlook. A KMC chain, which I run now, and an 11-28 on their way then.

The pier is wonderful, open every day and fully restored to its former glory. I love it, like Clevedon, it's very special to me.
