Swap Croix De Fer for another cx/urban bike

Hi Everyone,

I am considering selling or swapping my Gensis Croix de Fer and getting another cx or road bike that can take 28c tyres, a rack, guards and a big granny cog on the back with a double compact or triple up front.

I quite like the look of the Planet X London bike but would consider another bike with discs and similar gearing.

My main reasons for sale are that I don't get on with the aggressive position and the gearing is too high for me to be able to climb hills effectively.

Specification:
Size: 52CM
Frame: Reynolds 520 butted Cr-Mo 52cm
Fork: Genesis Carbon Disc-only
Front Derailleur: Shimano 105 5600
Rear Derailleur: Shimano 105 5600 GS
Shifters: Shimano 105 STI 5600
Chainset: Shimano FC-R600 50/34
Bottom Bracket: Shimano Hollowtech 2 - brand new
Pedals: Non supplied
Front Brake: Shimano A550 Deore with new pads
Rear Brake: Shimano A550 Deore with new pads
Handlebars: Genesis 6061 Aluminium
Stem: Deda 90mm
Rims: Alex XD-Lite 32 hole, Black, Disc only
Front Hub: Shimano Deore Centre-Lock Disc
Rear Hub: Shimano Deore Centre-Lock Disc
Front Tyre: Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700 × 35C or Vittoria Zaffiro 700x28c
Rear Tyre: Schwalbe Marathon Plus × 35C or Vittoria Zaffiro 700x28c
Saddle: Not yet decided
Seatpost: not yet decided

If selling £400 seems reasonable. I am based in Teesside but would post via Paisley Freight at £23 at buyers risk.

Can't you swap rear mech and cassette to 11-32 to see if that works, should give you as many hill friendly gears as a triple.

Agree wirh @vickster 11-25 is quite a flat, fast road friendly gear, you have plenty of scope to make it more hill suitable.

The saddle set up and layback seatpost don't look that friendly for relaxed geometry either, is there scope there cheaper than a new bike /swap to improve comfort.

Not for me, no room or suitable money/bike : but the frame looks quite small in that pic, what size is it and a rough min/max rider height may help save you and others from speculative chats.

The frame is 52cm.

I considered fitting a bigger cassette but as it is a 5600 I am limited to a 27T differential. 50-34 = 16T and then the cassette would need to be 32-15 which I don't believe you can get, best would be 12-28T but even then that is still highly geared for flat. As I am not a strong rider, I would need a whole new groupset minus chainset to make it meet my needs.
