I am experiencing explainable front tire flats. The blowout is to the rim side of the tube. My local bike mechanic is at a loss as am I.
Riding carbon/aluminum Bontrager 5 wheels with Continental tires. We have added two strips of rim tape but flats persist. Flats occur within 100 yds of rolling. Anyone have any ideas? May have to consider tubeless!

Continental tires.

There's your problem.

Run a finger the entire length of both the inside of the tyre and the rim, twice. Expect blood.

Check every spoke to make sure it's not poking through the tape.

Are you using tyres levers to reseat the tyre, possible pinch flat.

Check for up turned bucket of nails 100yds from home.

Ive had 2 continental tube blow outs ,both time it was where the valve is joined to the tube.
Is the flat in the same place ?
Is it at the valve?

Check as above post

Hubster was using Continentals, always getting flats and they were a pain in the backside. I had contis briefly. Changed my tyres and the problem went away. I really would check your rim, super carefully and then check it again. It could just be a tiny little burr. A good tip, my Dad told me, is to use a little bit of cotton wool. Something your finger might not notice but the cotton wool will stick to it as it will snag and then you can find the offending bit again.

Sticking up for conti's. No more or less punctures than other makes and have been using super sonics for TT's last 2 years without problems.

But to find the cause, line up the tyres and rims and test if the next puncture is in exactly the same place explore at that point. Good luck

Run a wad of soft loo roll around the inside of the tyres. It should visibly snag on any tiny thorns etc, but it'll spare your fingers.

My friend had this happen last month, one blow out was whilst riding the other was while the bike was in his house having just fit a new tube. The cause was a faulty gauge on his track pump, he was putting in far too much air!

Another thumbs up for Conti tyres, my tyre of choice, never had issues.
