Suntour used to be pretty poor, but I understand their air units are far better now.
Are you going off road with it? I have 100mm air forks on one of my MTB's, the lockout is very handy as I can keep it locked out on the road (except for part of the commute through a trading estate with a holed concrete road)
Personally, I really like 100mm travel forks on my XC bike, it's enough travel to soak up roots and small drops etc without spoiling too much of the action. They can also handle a fair bit of abuse (speaking purely for my Rokshock units,) they soak up the rocky trail at Penmachno without too much bone jarring!

I just had a look at the description and it don't say just what I put on the op. Think i might contact the manufacturer to find out. I do plan on offroad and doing some XC races further down the line

What bike are you looking at getting? If you're planning on racing you might want to choose carefully if you want to be competitive.
For local riding (South East) my hardtail with 100mm is perfect but in Wales, the Full susser with 120mm on the front is actually a bit quicker on the rocky stuff because I can push it harder without it getting out of shape.

The lockout function is quite handy for road riding, but to be honest, it's not that big a deal if you can't lock out 100mm forks as they don't move around that much anyway.
The 160mm that I used to have on the Enduro were a nightmare on the road without lockout, it was one peddle revolution for the road, and one for the forks!

The second one is far better spec'd. The fork should also be better quality but sorry, I know very little about Merida bikes.
My first ever MTB was a Merida, but only a cheapie and I wrecked it pretty quickly!

Hopefully someone can give you some views on them
