to do 212 miles on my new Sirrus since getting it a month ago ;) Think there must be a thin person looking to escape from the fat git's body!!

Some of you will no doubt read this and go "Pah - I do that as my commute!" but I am truly surprised. Especially since I am still a wus and not head out in the rain - but love it when it rains when I am already out!!

Over the last week I have done close to 90 of this total - 3 evening rides averaging just shy of 15mph, tonight knocked about 7 mins off my best time..

Just need to keep at it - and fit some study and other parts of life around it!!

Excellent work - keep it up. You should register with Cyclogs (link in my sig), as a fun way to track your miles and progress!

So are you coming for the CC Scotland Forum ride from Dunblane round Loch Katrine - with a stop part way round - on Sunday ?

Details here.

I did the route last Sunday and if I can do it then anyone can! It's immense fun round the south side of the lake once you leave the road and take the woodland path.

Should be great weather too ;)

I'm right wth you! Just today managed my 200-miles-this-month target, took great satisfaction in adding it to my cyclogs log.

Will bump the target up to 250 next month, should be more challenging since I only managed the 200 with a day to spare.

Well done mate. Since I've started cycling I've realised I'm doing certain things wrong whilst cycling but also I'm doing it all wrong if I want to lose weight.

I keep spending ages thinking about going on long bike rides with camping but then taking forever to do them.

It's much better, as you've realised too, to give yourself a set target each week and work to it. I'm going to try and set a target of 60miles a week and stick to it. Not many for some but for me that's a reasonable amount, although I admit I may have to up it if I keep doing 30mile rides.
