What do you have?

I like the look of Oakley
Think I tried on a pair of radar locks but the price tag scared me

Anyone seen oakley on sale?

There's a review of sunglasses in this month's Cycling Active

Personally, I have some prescription transitions glasses from Specsavers...if you think Oakleys are expensive, try adding prescription lenses to them

Try googling Oakleys, you'll find online sellers with some discount...however if they are half the price or less and for sale on eBay, they ARE fake

Oakleys all the way. I have used them for the last 17 years and am not tempted to switch.

Managed to get the last pair direct from Oakly for -50%, by having an old pair that couldn't be repaired.

Have currently got flak jackets and m paths (I think).

This is probably a totally different thread (is there one named cheapskate?), but I got new ones from Aldi ;) this week. £3. Stops flies in my eyes and tears rolling down my cheeks when I'm bombing down hills (ok, usually covering my brakes and getting scared).

But I do cycle in a mish-mash of clothes and don't care what I look like - other than usually wearing a bright pink top in an effort to get seen by motorists!

Seriously, some folks like spending on high class stuff, some like a bargain, it's a matter of priorities. Besides, I'm so blonde that I'd probably drop posh ones when I take my helmet off, leave them in a cafe or forgot where I left them every day

Gorgeous day out there - get that suncream and sunnies combination and give it some welly in the sunshine

Like Phoenix, I also have cycling glasses from Aldi £3, work fine for me. And in this weather you do need some glasses on (clear or tinted) to keep all the bugs and flies out of your eyes while on your bike.

I doff my hat to you!

I like this approach to 'stuff'. My glasses are some of these which are dirt cheap:

They are spot on for my use which is to keep crud and flying things from battering my delicate eyes!

They are cheap, do the job and if they get lost, crushed, stolen then I am not going to lose sleep.

Re: Oakleys etc. Yes, good glasses. They stop UV (but mine do that) and they have low levels of distortion (not that I've noticed any on mine but then I haven't really made any effort to check). Many of the designs are just wacky and imo to see a MAMIL with red, orange & purple shades on looks a tad sad in my eyes.

Latterly in my life I have come to despise the materialistic consumer culture that we live in. To a large extent I was part of it too until the late 90's. I had a very good career with a very high salary as did my wife. We ran around in very nice cars, had lots of holidays and bought 'stuff'. Somewhere along the line we realised that this did not buy happiness. Over a period of years we turned our careers off and I now have a little lifestyle business and my wife has a part-time job and we are both chilled and happy. We no longer lust for 'stuff'. We buy well ie good quality, fit for purpose and goes the distance and then we run things into the ground. Our little family car gives us more pleasure than the stonking German uber-machines that used to live on the drive.

It's pointless listing all the sad variations on companies hyping up tiny incremental 'improvements' as 'life-changers' - just look at the queues that form when Apple announce a new product that is the same as the old product with a tiny twist that makes not a jot of real world difference - a queue that says it all to me.

Sorry - old git wittering on!

I am using Tifosi Roubaix glasses, but that's because I needed ones that could take a prescription lens insert. (I'm shortsighted) Less than £100 for the lot, including the prescription lenses

However, I am thinking about daily disposable contacts in the future as the glasses are a bit more secure without the insert in.
