I quite often enjoy a pedal along the C2C route from Chester le Street riverside up past Consett and onto the moors if thats any interest to you

hi again,I try to do the occasional C2C route to Consett sometimes with a north loop via or around Derwent Reservoir.Trips Stockton way are less so kenuk, but usually joining via the Hetton Lions country park cycle path.

If anyone is interested I'm taking advantage of the very decent cycling weather(no wind!) tomorrow with an earlyish start and heading the gentle climb R7 to Consett and probably beyond.I usually join R7 at South Birtley

Anyone out this weekend? Loose end so looking for a ride out...

Awaiting discussion later with OH as I think eldest daughter has a swimming competition, which means I'll be babysitting youngest again and won't get out.

If I do, its mostly 'off road' and a steady plod, likely to be out of Durham, to the A167 and join the Lanchester Valley (Route 14) at Baxter Wood Farm, heading to Consett then join the C2C (Route 7) out towards Park Head Station nr. Stanhope.

Second problem is that my fitness probably isn't ready for the full ride there and back yet (approx 48 miles) so I might have to turn round early.

Swimming's next weekend, so that's me ok for Sunday morning for a few hours

Solo or in company - Don't mind, as long as you lot are not too quick ;)

I missed that G, did you get out? I did a route from Bishop Middleham through to Station Town etc, NC route 1 mainly, about 27 miles I think, enough for me lol.

Next time we should get a group of us, sounds a good route you do, similar to the Durham Big Ride?

Sent you PM, but yes I got out, with a last minute change of plan.

Got an early text off my lad, who was on the last stint of St. Bees C2C and was leaving Barnard Castle. His route was bringing his group along NR20 past Durham, so I cycled out to meet up. I got as far as Witton Park at 15 miles before turning round and never found him yet. It was into headwind most of the way out and very hot on the way back, but still a nice ride out.

Definitely up for a ride out some time
