Get your rocks off
My wife and I went High Beach, Epping Forest earlier, my wifes first ride for a long long time and my first on the mtb since I bought the road bike.

First thing I noticed was how bloody heavy the mtb now seems, still it was a nice afternoon with a lots of cyclists of all types around.

There is a rather nice pub called the Kings Oak nearby which does a nice pint, a good way to finish a sunny day.

Boring post I know but I am feeling mellow. ^_^

Rest weekend for me, and chores to do, so no pedalling for me, but did take my good lady out in the car, a run through the lanes to Hatton World Farm Park then over to Earlswood for lunch, lots of cyclists round the lanes, lovely to see, but reminded me of what I would rather be doing, we have had a good day though.

Likewise, though a broken spoke sort of helps not going out.

I did 40m last Sun in 2:40 plus a 10 min break. Though it wasnt to difficult with only a 1000ft of climbing.

My last three Sundays had been 90 miles on a charity ride, rode to and from the event and did the 60 mile challenge, Banbury 76 miles, Waseley Hills country park 73 miles, plus the Ashby pava Plant Centre 42 miles 2 weeks ago on a Saturday morning, plus commuting 13 miles a day, coming back from the Waseley Hill last Sunday my legs were a little flat.

Four years ago I rode to London from Dewsbury (though took me 4 days) slept rough as part of the ride was for the charity missing people and thats what happens sometimes (and I mean under hedge rows no tent ect.), these days I struggle, so it was an achievement for me. I can usually do distance just not usually quickly.

Well done Pat...it'll be a while before i'm able to do that distance.....5 hours or not.
I managed a 11.6 mile ride today (after a 12.6 yesterday with a friend) and am just building gently....maybe next spring lol....
